Tour the Naturescape Garden, a Vital Monarch Waystation

Throughout the day there will be tours of the Nokomis Naturescape Garden, which has been certified as a Monarch Waystation by the conservation and research organization Monarch Watch.  Monarch Waystations contain annual and perennial plants that provide habitat and food sources that are essential to the survival of monarch butterflies.

Make sure to get to the lake early and optionally wear your favorite wings, best pair of antenna, or caterpillar shirt and learn about the Monarch Butterfly while dancing along the shores of beautiful Lake Nokomis, Grandmother of waters!

The Monarch Festival is produced by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, Nokomis East Neighborhood Association and Community Celebration of Place.
